The Morris Motor Company was a British car manufacrturing company . After the incorporation of the company into large corporations , the Morris name remainded in use as a marque untill 1984 when British Leyand 's Austin Rover Group decided to concetrate on the more popular Austin  marque. The trademark is currently owned by SAIC after being transferred from bankrupt subsidiary Nanjing Autommotive.  The Morris Motor Company was started in 1910 when bicycle manufacturer William Morris turned his attention to car manufacturing and began to plan a new light car. A factory was opened in 1913 in a former Oxford Military College at Cowley, Oxford, United Kingdom, and the company's first car, the 2-seat Morris Oxford "Bullnose" was introduce . In 1952 the Nuffield Organisation merged with its old rival the Austin Motor Company to form the British Motor Corporation (BMC). Nuffield brought the Morris, MG, Riley and Wolseley marques into the merger. Leonard Lord was in charge, which led to Austin's domination of the organisation. Badge-engineering was important to the new company and for many years the several marques would be seen on several families of similar vehicles.

In the early 1980s, the former Morris plant at Cowley and its sister site the former Pressed Steel plant, were turned over to the production of Austin and Rover badged vehicles. They continued to be used by BL's Austin Rover Group and its successor the Rover Group, which was eventually bought by BMW, and then by a management consortium, leading to the creation of MG Rover. None of the former Morris buildings now exist, British Aerospace sold the site in 1992, it was than demolished and replaced with the Oxford Business Park. The adjacent former Pressed Steel Company site (now known as "Plant Oxford") is owned and operated by BMW, who use it to assemble the new MIN .

British Leyland

In 1968, in further rationalisations of the British motor industry, BMC became part of the newly formed British Leyland Motor Corporation (BLMC), and subsequently, in 1975, the nationalised British Leyland Limited (BL). The Morris marque continued to be used until the early 1980s on cars such as the Morris Marina. The Morris Ital (essentially a facelifted Marina) was the last Morris-badged passenger car, with production ending in the summer of 1984. The last Morris of all was a van variant of the Austin Metro.  In the early 1980s, the former Morris plant at Cowley and its sister site the former Pressed Steel plant, were turned over to the production of Austin and Rover badged vehicles. Austin-Healey Cars Automobile Sells Price Buy in UK

Austin-Healey was a British sports car maker. The marque was established through a joint-venture arrangement, set up in 1952 between Leonard Lord of the Austin division of the British Motor Corporation (BMC) and the Donald Healey Motor Company, a renowned automotive engineering and design firm.  Austin-Healey cars were produced until 1972 when the 20-year agreement between Healey and Austin came to an end. Donald Healey left the company in 1968 when British Motor Holdings (BMC had merged with Jaguar Cars in 1966 to form BMH) was merged into British Leyland. Healey joined Jensen Motors who had been making bodies for the "big Healeys" since their inception in 1952, and became their chairman in 1972 .

The Austin Healey was extensively raced by the Donald Healey Motor Company in Europe at Le Mans and in Sebring in the U.S., in classic rallies by the BMC competitions department, and was recognized from the very beginning by the Sports Car Club of America/SCCA. Healey models raced in club racing in D, E, and F production classes, winning National Championships in both D and E Production.

Successors

The name Austin is now owned by Nanjing who bought the assets of MG Rover Group (British Leyland's successor company) out of bankruptcy in 2005. After Donald Healey sold his original business, Donald Healey Motor Company, the Healey brand was registered to a new firm, Healey Automobile Consultants, which the Healey family sold to HFI Automotive in 2005.  In June 2007, Nanjing and Healey Automobile Consultants / HFI Automotive signed a collaborative agreement that aims to recreate the Austin Healey and Healey marquees alongside NAC's MG. No timeline has been given as to when the Healey and Austin-Healey brands will return, although MG will be back on the market in China and the UK by the year's end. In 1953, a special streamlined Austin-Healey set several land speed records at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, USA.

Trojan Cars Automobile Sells Price Buy in UK

Trojan was a British Automobile Manufacturer. Cars with the Trojan marque were made from 1914 and 1974. In 1913 the prototype was ready. It had a two-stroke engine with four cylinders arranged in pairs, and each pair shared a common combustion chamber - a doubled-up version of what would later be called the "split-single" engine. The pistons in each pair drove the crankshaft together as they were coupled to it by a V-shaped connecting rod. For this arrangement to work, it is necessary for the connecting rod to flex slightly, which goes completely against normal practice. The company was founded by Leslie Hayward Hounsfield (1877–1957), who went into business as a general engineer in a small workshop called the Polygon Engineering Works in Clapham, South London. He got the idea to make a simple, economical car that would be easy to drive and started design work in 1910.

Before production could start war broke out and from 1914 to 1918, Trojan Ltd, as the company had become in 1914, made production tools and gauges. In 1920 the first series of six cars were made from a works in Croydon and the final production version was shown at the 1922 London Motor Show. An agreement was reached with Leyland Motors to produce the cars at their Kingston upon Thames factory where work on reconditioning ex RAF wartime trucks was running down.

Trojan Trobike

Trobike was one of the early makes of mini-bike and also one of the earliest to be sold in kit form to avoid purchase tax. The Trojan Lambretta group was founded in 1959 when Lambretta Concessionaires Ltd took over Trojan Ltd, one of the oldest firms in the British motor industry. At about the time the group owned the Clinton Engine Corporation of Maquoketa, Iowa, USA. The very last machines were sold to a farmer and known as the Sussex Miniscooter. Later still, a variant known as the Lowline Chimp appeared using a very similar frame and again a Clinton engine. Originally, machines had black handlebar rubbers but some later models were fitted with buff-coloured rubbers. The twist grip on early machines (as appear on factory literature) was manufactured by Amal with the cable entering parallel to the handlebars. Later bikes had the more typical Amal twist grip with the cable entering from below. Later models were fitted with a bashplate between the lower frame downtubes (by frame number TB879). The bashplate was dual purpose: to stop dirt entering the air filter, and also to protect the carburettor from damage. Even later models (by frame number TB1029) were fitted with a further small light steel plate shielding the carburettor float bowl and fitted under the heads of the front two engine mounting bolts.

At first, the most popular engine was the 2.5 HP 95 cc Clinton engine – being both readily available and cheap. By 1959 Trojan began making the Trokart using this engine and sold as a kit to avoid purchase tax, it sold for only £25. By 1963 it was estimated that 250,000 engines in the US and 10,000 in Britain had been sold; all for karting.

Trojan Cars Details Information

Models. Two models – the Garden Model and Road Model – are basically similar, with the difference that the Garden Model does not include number plates, front wheel brake and brake lever, hooter or tax disc. Trobikes have an eye-catching colour scheme – white frames, forks, handlebars, and wheels – yellow engines – red chain/mudguards. A foam rubber saddle covered with black plastic leather cloth is fitted to each machine.

Engine. The Clinton A490 Panther 2-stroke engine is centrally mounted to ensure perfect balance at all speeds. The engine position is adjustable to suit chain tension. The starting is by recoil starter, power being delivered to the rear wheel through an automatic centrifugal clutch which comes into effect upon opening of the throttle.

Frame. The frame is manufactured from high-quality steel tube which is electrically welded to resist shock and impact. The steering head is mounted on ball bearings to provide ease and smoothness of movement. The front mudguard and the integral rear chain and mudguard are built of resin reinforced glass fibre and finished in red to contrast with the white enamel finish of the frame assembly

Wheels. Wheels are made from extremely strong pressed steel and are of the split rim type for easy tyre removal. Both front and rear wheels run on opposed high-grade taper roller bearings on an alloy steel spindle, which is designed for easy wheel removal. Highly efficient car type internal expanding brakes are used.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Cars Automobile Sells Price Buy in UK

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is a British manufacturer of luxuary automobile based at the Goodwood plant in West Sussex, Englan . It is the current producer of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars branded automobile , whose  histrical production dates back to 1904. The  factroy is located across from the historic Goodwood Circuit in Goodwood , West Sussex , England . It is a wholly owned subsidiary of BMW. The history of Rolls-Royce began as Rolls-Royce Limited which started manufacturing cars in 1903. The factory at Goodwood is the fifth Rolls-Royce UK based automobile production facility since 1904. The previous four were located in Manchester, London, Derby, and Crewe.

The situation was tilted in BMW's favor, as they could withdraw their engine supply with just 12 months notice, which was insufficient time for VW to reengineer the Rolls-Royce cars to use VW's own engines. BMW and VW arrived at a solution. From 1998 to 2002 BMW would continue to supply engines for the cars and would allow use of the names by VW, but this would cease on 1 January 2003. From that date, only BMW would be able to name cars "Rolls-Royce", and VW's former Rolls-Royce/Bentley division would build only cars called "Bentley."

From that date, only BMW would be able to name cars "Rolls-Royce", and VW's former Rolls-Royce/Bentley division would build only cars called "Bentley."  It was actually decided before by Henry Royce himself that black was more appropriate since the red clashed with the colour of some models.[1] The Phantom III of 1934 was the first Rolls Royce to display the black badge, being the first car without input from Mr. Royce. In 1998, owners Vickers decided to sell Rolls-Royce Motors. The most likely buyer was BMW, who already supplied engines and other components for Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars, but BMW's final offer of £340m was beaten by Volkswagen's £430m.

Cars

The car has a 6.75 L V12 engine sourced from BMW, but most other components are unique to the car. Parts are sourced from Continental Europe and the UK. Assembly, leather work, wood work, and finishing is carried out in a new factory in Goodwood near Chichester, Sussex. The cars are available in normal and extended wheelbase, and prices start at about £250,000.2003+ Phantom (saloon)—Launched in January 2003 at Detroit's North American International Auto Show, this is the first model from Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Limited, a BMW Group subsidiary having no corporate connection with the previous Rolls-Royce Motors company apart from the trademarks mentioned above.

Noble Automotive Cars Automobile Sells Price Buy in UK

Noble Automotive Ltd, more commonly know simply as Noble , is a British sport car manufacturer. It was established in 1999 by Lee Noble in Leeds, West Yorkshire, for producing high-speed sports cars with a rear mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout. Lee Noble was the chief designer and owner of Noble. He sold the company in August 2006. He resigned from the company in February 2008 and announced his new venture, Fenix Automotive in 2009 . In 2009 Noble Released the M600, a car which takes Noble into Hyper Car territory. With 650BHP available from its purpose built 4.4 litre V8 Twin turbo charged engine, the carbon fibre, light weight bodied car is aimed firmly at the established Ferrari/Porsche brands. Deliveries to customers are expected mid 2010. The retail price is GBP 200,000 . Only 220 Noble GTO-3Rs and M400s were imported to the U.S. They are the only Nobles available to the American market. The U.S. distribution rights to the M12s and M400s were sold in February 2007 to 1G Racing from Ohio. Due to high demand of these cars, 1G released its own copy, named Rossion Q1.

Noble M12 (2000-2008)

Like the Noble M10, the Noble M12  is a two door , two-seater model , originally planned both as a coupe and as a covertilbe . All M12s have been powered by specially tuned turbocharged Ford Duratec V6 engines. The M12 has a full steel roll cage, steel frame, and G.R.P. (fibre glass) composite clam shell body parts. These cars are extremely lightweight and stiff. Although looks to be track derived, the M12 performs very well on both road and track, with surprisingly good ride quality, but a rigid feel . The coupe evolved through four (4) variants with the M400 being the ultimate version of the M12, followed by the GTO-3R. 0-60 mph (0–97 km/h) in 3.7 seconds was published in the official brochure of the M12 GTO-3R, Road and Track indicated a 0-60 mph performance of 3.3 seconds, but subsequently listed it as 3.5 seconds. Its top speed is listed as 185 mph (298 km/h). Lateral Gs are reported in excess of 1.2.

Noble M12 GTO 2.5L bi-turbo 330 bhp/231 kW

Noble M12 GTO-3 3.0L bi-turbo 365 bhp/242 kW

Noble M12 GTO-3R 3.0L bi-turbo 415 bhp/262 kW

The Noble M14 debuted at the 2004 British Motor Show and generated significant interest in the motoring press. It was planned to compete with the Porsche 911 Turbo and Ferrari F430. It was based on the chassis of the M12, with only minor modifications. It had a new body and a more up market interior

Noble M15

The car was based on a brand new platform with a longitudinally mounted engine connected to a bespoke gearbox created by Graziano. The double wishbone suspension is a development of the system mounted on the M400. Mounting the engine longitudinally allowed the designer to increase cooling flow to the engine which allows the 3.0l twin turbo V6 to produce 455 bhp (339 kW; 461 PS). The engine was designed to meet emissions regulations and the new steel/aluminium space frame was designed with a view to passing crash test regulations around the world. The M15 was planned to be the first Noble which gains European and US type approval . Production of the M15 was planned to begin in early 2006, but has not taken place. The Noble M15 was intended to appeal to a far broader market and compete directly with the Porsche 911 Turbo and Ferrari F430. As a result the Noble M15 was expected to have a number of features not previously found on Nobles such as Sat nav, traction control, electric windows and ABS. The Company has issued a press release about the M15, and the M15 will be produced after the introduction of the M600. The M15 of the future will be different than the car shown in 2006.

The M15 appeared in Top Gear and presenter Richard Hammond was very impressed. It was a lot quicker around the Top Gear-track than the old Noble. According to Richard this has to do with the new, stronger gearbox which enables Noble to allow more boost and let the same engine produce more power. The Stig managed a lap time of 1:22.5 which is currently 26th on the powerlap board.

Morgan Motor Company Cars Automobile Sells Price Buy in UK

The Morgan Motor Company is a British Motor Car Manufacturer . The company was founded in 1910 by Harry Frederick Stanley Morgan, generally know as "HFs" and  was run by him until he died ,aged 77, in 1959 . Peter Morgan, son of H.F.S ran the comapany until a few years before his death in 2003. The company is currently run by Charles Morgan, the son of Peter Morgan. Morgan is based in Malvern Link, an area of Malvern , Worcestershire and employs 163 people. Morgan produced 640 cars in 2007. All the cars are assembled by hand. The waiting list for a car is approximately one to two years, although it has been as high as ten years in the past. The visitor centre and museum feature a guided tour of the factory and exhibits about the company's history from Edwardian times until the present day, developments in automobile technology, and a display of automobiles.

The early cars were two-seat or four-seat three-wheelers, and are therefore considered to be cyclecars. Three-wheeled vehicles avoided the British tax on cars by being classified as motorcycles. Competition from small cars like the Austin 7 and the original Morris Minor, with comparable economy and price and better comfort, made cyclecars less attractive.

In 2004 , Morgan came out with a traditional style model to replace the departing Plus 8. The new model named the Roadster in powered by  a Ford UK Mondeo v6 producing 212 b hp (158 KW, 251 PS) . In 2007 , the Mondale engine was replaced by US version of the same engine in the Roadster II. In 2000, the Morgan Aero 8 was introduced and as always , the wooden body substructure was ash (Con tray to popular myth, however the chassis is metal ) aluminum for the Aero 8) The Aero 8, with a BMW V8 engine in a car weighing less than a BMW Z4 and considerably less than a BMW M3, (though more than traditional Morgans) is even faster than the Plus 8, delivering what Auto week magazine termed super car performance. The newest Aero 8 (Ser. IV) puts out 367 hp (274 kW) at 6100 rpm giving it a top speed of over 170 mph (270 km/h). Due to the Aero 8's light weight it can do 0–62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.5 seconds .

Based on the same chassis as the Aero Supersports, the Eva GT will be a 2+2 grand tourer, and as such it is longer in the body. The Eva GT will use BMW N54 twin-turbo straight-6 producing 302 bhp, this is Euro-6 emissions compliant. Launched at Pebble Beach 2010 and expected to go on sale in 2013, deposits have been taken since 2010.

Availability to the United States

For part of the 1950s and 1960s, the USA provided the company with its largest market worldwide, taking up to 85% of all production . In 2005, the engine was replaced with the US version of another traditionally-shaped model (with a V6) called the Roadster. In 2002, Morgan centralised its international compliancy development and regulatory interaction in-house . In 2005, its right to import its classic models ceased when supplies of its necessary airbag were exhausted and no replacement was developed. In 2006, a request for an airbag exemption to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration was refused, and the import of classic Morgans ceased . In spite of their traditional design, Morgans have always had sporting or "sports car" performance, due to their extremely low weight. The rear-impact exemption lapsed in May 2008 without further application. Morgan has indicated to its US dealers that it plans to re-apply for US certification for some model at as yet an undetermined date in the future. This ended with the first wave of US safety and emission regulations in 1971

Mini Cooper Cars Automobile Sells Price Buy in UK

The Mini is a small car that was made by the British Motor Copporation (BMC) and its successors from 1959 untill 2000. The originalll is considerd a British icon of the  1960s and its space saving front wheel drive layout (which allowed 80% of the area of the car's floor pan to be used for passengers and loggage ) influenced to its German contemporary , the Volkswagen Beetle, which enjoyed similar prolularity in North America. In 1999 the Mini was voted the second most influential car of the 20th country , behind the Ford MOdel.  The destinctive two door car was designed for BMC by sir Alec Issigionis . It was manufactured at her Long bridge and Cowley plants in England , the victoria Park/Zetland British Motor Corporation(Australin) factory in Sydeny, Australia and later also in spain, Belgium, Chile, Italy , Malta, Portugal, South Africa , URugray, VEnezuela and YUgoslavia.

Rally four from 1964 through to 1967 lathouht in 1966 the Mini awas disqualified after the finish , along with six other British entrants , which included the first four cars to finish, under a questoinable rulling that the cars had used an illegal combination of headlamps.

Design and Development

Designed as project ADO15(Austin Drawing Office project number 15), the Mini came about because of a fuel shortage caused by the 1956 Sue Crisis. Petrol was boomed . Leonard Lord, the  somewhat autocratic head of BMC , reprotedly detested these cars so much that he vowed to rid the streets of them and disign a proper miniture car . He down some basic design requriements the car should be contained wihtin a box that measured  and  passenger accommodation should occupy 6ft of the 10 ft length and the engine for reasons of cost should be can unit. Issigonis who had been woriking for Alvis, has been recruited back to BMC in 1955 and with his skills in desinging small cars. Despite its utillitatian origins the classic Mini shape had become so well know  that by  the 1990s, Rover Group-the heirs to BmC -were able to register its design as a tade mark in its own right.

Production models differed fro, the prototypes by the addition of front subframes to the unibody to take the suspension loads and by having the engine monuted other way roud  with carburattor at the back than at the front . This layout required an extra gear between engine and transmission to revers the then evposed to water coming in through the grille .The engine size was reduced from 948 cc to 484 this in , conjunction with a small increase in the car's  width , cut the top speed from 90 mph ( 145 km/h) to a more reaonable ( for the time) 72mph (116 km/h).

In the United States

Minis that were originally sold in the US are becoming hart to find, so most of the restored Minis now runing in the US have been imported by induvidual enthsiasts--typical  from Autarlia or New Zealand where the climate has limited the amount of rust fomation and cars are available for relatively low prices . There is increasiing diffculty in finding cars that are old enough to meet the 25 year emission exemption and yet are still in a reasonable condtition . This has led some imorters to place the vehicle identification number (ViN0 plates from older cars onto Minis that ar less than 25 years old-claiming that the cars was"repaired" by replacing every single pat with the exception of he VIN plate. Such vehicles are termed"re-VINs and are surprisingly common. This may leave such impotters open to accuslation of a "Ship of Theaseu" fraud such as befell the late Boyd Clddington from the state of California.

Jaguar Cars Lrd,know simply as Jaguar is a British luxury car manufacturer, headquatered in Whitely, coventry , England. It is part of the Jaguar Land Rover business , a subsidiary of the India company Tata MOtors. Jaguar was founded as the Swallow Sidecar Company by Sir William Lyons in 1922, originally making motorcycle sidecars before developing passenger cars. The name was changed to Jaguar after WWII to avoid the unfavourable connotations of the SS initials. Jaguar has, in recent years, manufactured cars for the Prime Minister, the most recent delivery being a XJ model on 11 May 2010 . Jaguar cars today are designed in Jaguar Land Rover's engineering centres at the Whitley plant in Coventry and at their Gaydon site in Warwickshire, and are manufactured in Jaguar's Castle Bromwich assembly plant near Birmingham.

On 11 June 2007, Ford announced that it planned to sell Jaguar, along with Land Rover and retained the services of Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and HSBC to advise it on the deal. The sale was initially expected to be announced by September 2007, but was delayed until March 2008. On 1 January 2008, Ford formally declared that Tata was the preferred bidder.

 Current car models

The Jaguar XJ is a full-size luxury saloon and the company's flagship model. The model has been in production since 1968 with the first generation being the last Jaguar car to have creative input by the company's founder, Sir William Lyons. In early 2003, the third generation XJ arrived in showrooms and while the car's exterior and interior styling were traditional in appearance, the car was completely re-engineered. Its styling attracted much criticism from many motoring journalists who claimed that the car looked old-fashioned and barely more modern than its predecessor, many even citing that the 'Lyons line' had been lost in the translation from Mark 2 into Mark 3 XJ, even though beneath the shell lay a highly advanced aluminium construction that put the XJ very near the top of its class. The Jaguar XF is a mid-size executive car introduced in 2008 to replace the out-going S-Type.  From 2011, the 2.2 L diesel engine from the Land Rover Freelander was added to the range as part of a facelift.

Motorsport

In the 1999, Ford decided that Jaguar would be the corporation's Formula One entry. Ford bought out the Stewart Grand Prix team and rebranded it as Jaguar Racing for the 2000 season. The company has had major success in sports car racing, particularly in the Le Mans 24 Hours. Victories came in 1951 and 1953 with the C-Type, then in 1955, 1956 and 1957 with the D-Type. The manager of the racing team during this period, Lofty England, later became CEO of Jaguar in the early 1970s. Although the prototype XJ13 was built in the mid-1960s it was never raced, and the famous race was then left for many years and until in the mid-1980s when Tom Walkinshaw's TWR team started designing and preparing Jaguar V12-engined sports prototypes for European sports car races. The team started winning regularly from 1987, and with increased factory backing the team won Le Mans in 1988 and 1990.
